When I finished reading ‘The Fault in our Stars’ and I was sitting all moody and sad, I stumbled upon an article about Randy Pausch and his ‘Last Lecture: Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams: YouTube video, PDF Transcript’.
It was a very nice and heart warming read. I did not see the video but rather read the transcript (easy to do it during the breaks). There was a time I was fascinated with Virtual Reality until my Life’s Reality took precedence and well, now I hardly bother about those things. But it is nice to hear about it from people who work on it and how motivated they are and all. Its a world of its own, even if it is virtual. I liked one specific thing from that transcript.
“But remember, the brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people…….brick walls let us show our dedication. They are there to separate us from the people who don’t really want to achieve their childhood dreams. Don’t bail. The best of the gold’s at the bottom of barrels of crap.”
These lines could not have come at the right time. Just recently, I wrote in my other blog how I wanted something and yet how I have got myself entangled in a web of uncertainty and how much I am away from doing what I want. Seems like I have been hitting those brick walls. I need to just find a way to either break it like the Berlin Wall or scale it like the Great wall of China (even though I don’t think there is anything related to brick in them). It is my choice.
