Hello Dubai-ya!!!!

I have been wanting to post this image for too long. We used to visit Pallavur and Pallasana almost every year for past 35+ years. Every time we go, we used to see this small bus stop sign on the way and every time we would chuckle. Only recently I had the good fortune to take a picture of this.

Don’t ask me what Dubai or Dhubai (as it is locally pronounced) doing in a very small place called Kakkayur in Kerala, India. There are lot of jokes about Keralites and Dubai and I am not going into them.

 

Update on 20-Jan-2013:

Heard from my family that very recently they found that this sign has been replaced with another Malayalam named sign and it is no longer a ‘Dhubai Bus stop’ 🙂
