SoCS: A Taboo subject

Taboo – a word guessing party game that we friends always play whenever we have a get together. This happened on the New Year’s Eve too. I like word games, even though my vocabulary is very horrible and my usage of words , oh don’t ask me about that. I am well known to use incorrect words giving a scenario, a different meaning altogether. I sometimes scandalize myself. This game is like charades except that you can speak, but you should not use the listed/taboo words to make your team mates figure out the actual word. That is so difficult sometimes. For e.g. The word that your friends have to figure out is ‘FERRY’. Now you have to make sure that they get this word by explaining it to them, but it should not include the taboo words like ‘Carry’,’Boat’,’Harbour’,’Transport’ and ‘Sea’. Now try and see. And it is timed. That is the worst part. The max we could get in the time was 4 and the minimum was 1. We are yet to beat the record of another friend who ended up successfully communicating almost 8 words. She wasn’t there in the recent get together and she was glad that her record still holds good.

Post for this week’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “t.” Think of a word that starts with it or includes it, and write away! Have fun!

  1. I love that game! It’s like the old “Password” game, which I loved as a kid. So much fun! My French teacher uses a form of this in class…we have a card with a French word on it, we have to get the rest of the class to say the word, without using the “Taboo” words, and of course, we can only speak French. Great Vocabulary stretcher!
