State of Mind

“I like to prowl ordinary places.
I feel sorry for us all or glad for us
caught alive together
and awkward in that way.

there’s nothing better than the joke
of us
the seriousness of us
the dullness of us”

― Charles Bukowski

That was my state of mind over the weekend: looking, watching, wondering!

I often see humour or the absurdity in mundane everyday things. Maybe it is a way of keeping myself amused but sometimes I wonder how no one else seems to see it? Maybe this is a reason why I love travelling – people tend to observe more and I find myself on a similar wavelength far more often.

Very true. Travelling gives a new perspective to even simple things.

Yes, I also think maybe people who travel are more likely to tend to question the ‘status quo’. That is a pretty broad generalisation though and I realise it can work both ways.

And they also realise that even though the world is quite big in terms of size, when it comes to humans, the category is quite small.

Yes in many ways we are not so different, although the differences that are there just make it all the more interesting 🙂
