Oxford’s Words in a Sentence

Ever since I read the list of words shortlisted for Oxford Dictionaries word of the year, I couldn’t help but wonder if we can combine all those words in a meaningful sentence. Here is my try. If you manage to write one of your own and would like to share it, please ping back to this post or tag it as #WordsOfTheYearSentence.

For reference, here are those words.

hygge, n.

mass noun] a quality of cosiness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being (regarded as a defining characteristic of Danish culture)

Brexiteer

British informal a person who is in favour of the United Kingdom withdrawing from the European Union

Latinx, n. and adj.

Noun: a person of Latin American origin or descent (used as a gender-neutral or non-binary alternative to Latino or Latina)

coulrophobia, n.

extreme or irrational fear of clowns

adulting

[mass noun] informal the practice of behaving in a way characteristic of a responsible adult, especially the accomplishment of mundane but necessary tasks

chatbot

a computer program designed to simulate a conversation with human users, especially over the Internet

glass cliff, n.

used with reference to a situation in which a woman or member of a minority group ascends to a leadership position in challenging circumstances where the risk of failure is high.

alt-right, n.

(in the US) an ideological grouping associated with extreme conservative or reactionary viewpoints, characterized by a rejection of mainstream politics and by the use of online media to disseminate deliberately controversial content.

woke, adj.

US informal alert to injustice in society, especially racism.

Here is my Sentence (you can use the words in any order) (if there are any mistakes please do let me know)

The hygge in my life was messed up this year when I woke to first the brexiteer’s rejoicing and then later the alt-right groups creating trouble for Latinx and other races and minorities making people fear them more than their fear of coulrophobia and wondering when the women will stop falling off the glass cliff and wishing that people grow beyond basic adulting and help us look forward in the future with some hope so that we don’t end up taking orders from a chatbot .

Driverless World

I admit I love driving and giving up that control to a driverless car is a lot scarier for me. But if it helps in the overall improvement of our traffic system and a smooth flow of vehicles around, not to mention lesser accidents, I think I can learn to overcome my fears 🙂

Straight into your arms

What an amazing and creative video and add that beautiful song to it…What’s not to like ?

Quote Art

I like quotes and I like art, especially drawings/paintings and stuff like that. And I like the one’s where they combine both to create something new. I saw one like that in one of the restaurants sometime back and I did post about it. Recently I did see a few more in Twitter and would like to share the same.

From Game of Thrones, one of my favorite character is Tyrion Lannister (I think he is the favorite of a majority of people who follow the book and/or the series).  I do follow Tyrion Lannister on Twitter and just loved this picture that was posted there. I don’t tweet much, except to reply to some tweets, very very rarely. But I really wanted to share this and re-tweeted it.

The quote goes like this

“Let me give you some advice, bastard: Never forget what you are. The rest of the world will not. Wear it like armor, and it can never be used to hurt you.”

Have you seen/heard Taylor Swift’s ‘Blank Space‘ song? I love it. I was commenting about that song to my friends and told them that I just love the line where it goes like this

But you’ll come back each time you leave
Cause darling I’m a nightmare dressed like a daydream

I saw this image which was posted on Twitter (I don’t have the link now) but got redirected to the tumblr link (which I saved) and just loved it. It is such a very cool representation of that line. Don’t you think ?

Even though not represented in a drawing or image, the recent song from Jessie J (I really like her songs) called Masterpiece is my current hot favorite.

I have been singing this song continuously for past two days because I love love love these lines.

I still fall on my face sometimes
And I can’t colour inside the lines
‘Cause I’m perfectly incomplete
I’m still working on my masterpiece

and finally since this is a season of festivity and weddings, if you looking for wedding cards, look no further. Saath Phere is a Hindu wedding ceremony. So I used it as the name of the card company (imaginary  name)
