Some random updates

  • As I already posted in my AWAW: Create post this week beginning, I got a new Canon 70D last Friday and am yet to find time to play with it and explore it more. But imagine my surprise when my Zumba instructor pinged me to help her out with some of the class photographs to use it for her FB page. She liked the earlier ones I did for learning purposes and it felt so nice when she used one of her’s in monochrome as her profile picture, which was my favorite of the lot too. ¬†Felt really good to be appreciated for something I did even if it was just for fun. And with the new camera, I did take some yesterday and she was happy with those too. One of them will be going to her FB page it seems. Yay!!! But I really wish I could spend more time with it
  • Work is sort of crazy right now and my holiday is gonna be spoiled with the work in between but I still get to be with my nieces and nephew so that would make it up. I have to remember to collect my dues from my boss as compensatory off later (and I already have decided the dates ūüėČ )¬†
  • Even in spite of the crazy work, I ended up watching a lot of Robin William’s videos and blog posts.¬†RIP Mr Williams. Somehow I ended up remembering this song¬†when I heard of his demise: ‘Only human‘ by Christina Perri.
  • I haven’t heard much of old English music because I started listening to it much later in my life, but I did like the tracks in¬†Guardians of the Galaxy. If you wanna hear it , you can check out the Grooveshark’s link¬†here¬† for that ‘Awesome Mix Vol 1’ playlist.
  • I hope I will be able to keep track of the posts till this weekend, but I am not very sure. So I may (or not) go MIA from my blog (and test my resistance level to it).¬†Here is to a bright¬†day and lovely weekend for all of you. Take care and stay safe and keep smiling.

Guardians of the Galaxy

When my friends wanted to see this movie¬†Guardians of the Galaxy‘ I wasn’t sure if I would like it. I am not a great fan of comics (haven’t read any). Even though I like Superman, Spiderman (only the first 2 movies and haven’t seen the rest yet) and Batman (watched all of them) I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy this movie without watching all the other such movies like Avengers, Thor etc. But they sort of convinced me that I would enjoy it no matter what and that it had great reviews. He booked for all of us in IMAX , the costliest 3D one before we could even voice our protest and we were sort of forced to watch it in that big screen with good visual effects. And I should say, it was worth the money. I was really very surprised by the movie. I am not going into the story here because ¬†it is better written in the Wikipedia anyways. Even though it did start of a little serious, as soon as Chris Pratt enters the scene with the small mixtape player and the 80’s songs playing in it, it gets interesting. The humor through out had me smiling and some times out right laughing out loud. That is the biggest positive thing in this movie for me. Most of the times it is very subtle but some times it is just the small visual clue.

I don’t watch any series in TV , I don’t even switch on the TV most of the times and this is the first time I am hearing of Chris Pratt. He is quite good and I liked him. The first time he says ‘I am Star Lord’ and the other Ravager says ‘who’ and the way he rolls his eyes and the same guy at the end when he sees him and says ‘Star Lord’, this guy looks so relieved and says ‘finally’. It was really good. Fun and flirty.

And the Raccoon. Oh my god. I loved that cute guy. And perfect voice by Bradley Cooper. The frustration, the fun…just loved it. Vin Diesel as Groot saying ¬†‘I am groot’ in different tones to match the situation was pretty cool. All the people who were involved did a very good job and the special effects were also very good. I usually get headaches after watching a 3D movie and this was no exception. The glasses doesn’t suit me for a long time. But unlike some movies where the 3D doesn’t add any value add, this one did sort of made me feel as if I was there. (Side note: Saw the ‘The Hobbit -3’ trailer in IMAX 3D and it was so amazing. I am so watching that movie in IMAX 3D only). My friend did fill me in on the other movies which¬†were remotely related to it (with respect to the infinity stones and Thanos). Overall a fun and entertaining movie.

Trailer Rant

I am so tired of having to watch this trailer of Transformers 4 Age of Extinction, again and again. Why!!! Why do they force me like this. I had to see it when I was in the theater watching some other movie and YouTube shows me this whenever I try to load some video.¬†I Don’t Like Transformers series ūüė•
The first time someone took me to the first movie in that series, as a surprise mind you, I had such a severe headache and I really really wished I was a violent person. I just couldn’t bear it. And I did not watch any other sequels of that. And last week one of my friend suggested that we go to this because her son wanted to see it, I almost shrieked and told her that I just can’t do that even if¬†she questions¬†my friendship and I have had been to some very very dumb and stupid movies with her. One of my friend was saying that he was seriously considering to un-friend all his friends from his Facebook account who praised this movie and asked him if he was going to watch it. And the sad part is I like Mark Wahlberg and felt really very bad that he is in this movie.

The other movie which keeps playing in the trailers is ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘. How many times the Avengers and all super heroes are going to get together to save the Earth, oops sorry this time it is the Galaxy. Oh God!!! Don’t they get tired of saving the Earth, the Universe, the Galaxy, the Milky Way all those things. I liked it when it was just Superman, Spiderman (to some extent), Batman but now there are quite a bunch of people half of whom I don’t know and I don’t want to also. The more the crowd the lesser each one’s importance isn’t. I am not able to concentrate on one super hero/heroine now. Too much heroism going on, I can barely understand. I am so not eager to watch this too. I really hope they¬†do end up saving the Galaxy and stop there and not continue with something else beyond it. I know lot of people like it and its cool and fine¬†but¬†again too much for me.

Having said all of this, even though I am particularly not really happy to see a sequel to it, I am kind of expecting ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes‘. Yeah sort of weird isn’t. And the only one reason I can say is that I like animals and one particular Caesar¬†in this , so much that I am ready to watch this when it comes in theaters. I loved the first one (not the old one, but the Rise of the Planet of the Apes) and Caesar’s acting in that. I had tears in some scenes. Too good. OK, time to sign off the rant and the day. Good night.
