Historical Hampi

My friend and I drove down to Hampi during the last week as part of my short break 🙂

I will be posting my experiences out there on my travel blog.  But until then, here are some photographs representing the beautiful historic town. This is my second visit to this town after a gap of 10 years. It was a short but memorable visit.

Love Locks

While I was in Paris, I saw these bridges which were filled with “Love Locks”. I used to wonder how people could find space to add theirs to it. Even though it sounds all romantic and all, I thought it was a little bit too much because it sort of kept spreading from one bridge to another and there is no ending to it.

Today I read an article where it was mentioned that Paris is going to remove all these love locks once and for all. I think that is a good decision.
As quoted in their FB page and article,

Whether it’s in the name of love, hate, war, peace, or selfies, marring heritage sites is not something we should embrace as travelers. If you disagree, that’s your right, but, well, you’re wrong. The Earth isn’t flat, evolution isn’t a myth, and love locks, in addition to all types of vandalism, aren’t acceptable, no matter what your justification.

I totally agree.

Point Cabrillo Lighthouse

When I was in Fort Bragg, I decided to visit this light house called Point Cabrillo which was within the city limits. Went there by around 3.30 pm and spent a while there. According to the lady there, who was so happy to receive a visitor from India on her tour of light houses, this one has the third order Fresnel lens where as the Point Arena (which was already in my list of to-visit places) has the 1st order Fresnel lens. There was this one squirrel who was roaming the place and gave me company during my visit there. I have tons of pictures of that little friend. I did hope to catch some whales, but they had already done their visits in the morning. Around 8 pairs were spotted during the first half of the day, according to the lady at the gift shop.  Not my day to catch them I guess. But as usual, felt at peace and enjoyed the nature and the cold winds before I decided to head back after 6 pm.

Pigeon Point Lighthouse

Pigeon Point Lighthouse is one place that got planned every single time I was in US but never got around to visit until this time and when I was there on a weekday afternoon on my own, I got around to catch a couple of whales. Yay!!! It was a total surprise. After that, I went again with my friends but we weren’t that lucky but caught some seals lazing around. Loved the place. I have a special love for the light houses. More of them coming up.

Awww man!!! WTH!

Spoiler Alert

Finally, I completed the 5th book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series:  Dance of the Dragons just an hour ago and I am still wondering what the hell happened. Actually the problem is that too many things happened in this book and I am yet to come to terms and I am 😡

Why? Why does he have to do that to Jon Snow? While reading I did feel that it was getting too good to be true. It’s GRRM’s fault that I am becoming more cynical. I even asked my friend if Jon Snow is going to be alive till the end. The only answer I ever get from him was ‘Just read! Why do you even ask I don’t know!’ And today when I finished that chapter where at the end Jon lay down in the cold with multiple stab bleeding and calling Ghost,  this is what happened. img4

And there was Dany whose fate was dangling but at least there was a closure to that. Poor Poor Quentyn and what the hell was he thinking… dragons are not dolls dear. And…..Reek oops Theon, that effing idiot. I don’t even know what to think. Did Bran forgive him when he saw him through that tree ? Is his penance done ? What is going to happen to Arya now ? Aegon again ! Whoa that was a BIG surprise actually. I hope he has some sense to follow Jon Connington. I should say I was a little happy when Cersei had to accept her sins and confess. But sad for losing Jaime. Finally , finally when I thought I would never hear about him, there comes Varys finally doing one thing I didn’t expect him to do. Man! too many plots, too many treacheries, too many surprises. My head is spinning.

Now I have to start watching the series.
