Two people drive drunk at night: one kills a pedestrian, one doesn’t. Does the unlucky killer deserve more blame or not?
Found an interesting article in Aeon, in answer to the above question. I am usually not a person who reads long reads (blaming it on short attention span) but this one was very interesting. It does make one think of our reasoning behind our moral decision.
I agree to most of the points…and I know for sure that I have trouble with my meditation, even though it is much better now and I am much better at multitasking than my male friends. Emotional??? Of course! But a box of nothing ? I leave that to the men to confirm it. So far, I have got only one confirmation from my guy saying ‘yes, we do have a box of nothing’. Am wondering what the rest of the men folk think 😉 ?
As you can see in the below photograph (taken from my phone) that this book was bought on October 8th, 2002. Almost 14 years ago, when I was still new to the working environment.
It is about Life, Work and how to cope up with changes. It is just about 96 pages in the volume. Very small indeed. If we had cheese in the story, we should have mice in them too. Well, we surely do in this one. If you don’t really want to read the book but wanted to know what it says (along with the story), just read the Wikipedia and you can be done with it. It is mostly about expecting changes, being prepared for it, and be willing to go through with it. I have no idea why I bought this book then. Maybe because it was a very popular one and everyone was talking about it and it was cheaper and smaller? But I did enjoy it when I read it. I am not a person who will read all these self-help books. Makes me sleep, those books. But this one was a cool one. If you get a chance just go through it. Hardly takes about a few minutes or maybe an hour max.
I guess most you must have heard of this Author and this Book. Because this is used mostly for the beautiful quotes. This is a photograph of the love quotes that I had written down much before I bought the book and read it fully. (There was an entry for Marriage and Children too… Wonder why I just chose those three… well, it must be the hormones. I was in my late teens you see 😉 ) I remember seeing them somewhere (I don’t recollect where) and that was the time when I used to write the lines I liked in my diary, so wrote them down and saved those words.
I was so awed by those quotes and they did have a big impact on me. I am one of those who uses other’s quotes whenever and wherever possible. And this book is full of them. I am glad that I have a copy of this book with me and I will have it wherever I go.
I could have picked up any other book for P, but this is one book I am very fond of and wanted to share it with you. This book even overrode the ‘Pride and Prejudice’ , enough said about this book already or the ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray’, which is another wonderful book.
