The weekly update

Finally, it took me just two days to complete the new Harry Potter book ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – Parts One and Two’. I will keep you updated on my views about the book in a separate post (need to gather my bearings before I write that down) but if you want to hear only good things about it (obviously, no spoilers will be revealed) then you might want to skip that. Now I hear that there are three more books planned? For some reason, that doesn’t excite me. Why? I don’t know as of yet. But once I gather my thoughts, which are everywhere right now, I might get an answer.
In the mean time, I am keeping up my date with ‘The Wire’ series and completed Season 2 over the week. I am planning to do one season per week, if possible. So far, I am just loving it. I have also caught up with the latest episode of ‘The Night Of’.  All is going well in the TV series area and I am glad I am sticking to those two for now.

I remember my dad’s very old and very dilapidated guitar that was kept in the lofts and used to wish my dad kept it in good condition so that we could try learning to play it. But he played it during his younger days and had lost touch but for some reason, kept that guitar for far too long. I learned to play guitar 4/5 years ago and continued for 2 years but then with constant travelling and work, had to give it up. Now I have totally lost touch. And it is in my loft. So when my friend asked if she could loan it for her son, I was only glad because it will be brought back to life again, if not by me by some one who is willing to learn. I have plans to learn playing it again once I get other things sorted, but until then I don’t want it face the same fate as that of my dad’s. Anything to keep my guitar alive and the music floating.

All in the game, yo!

I have heard good reviews about this TV Series ‘The Wire’ but never got around to watching it. After a series of comments and replies from D F Lovett on his blog post and given that I really like ‘The Night Of’, the ongoing series (which is a rarity) I decided to take the plunge. I was hooked. So instead of completing my Cursed Child, I ended up binge watching the whole of The Wire Season 1. It was really gripping. Honestly, I haven’t watched any such police drama. Detective series are a different genre, according to me. So this was a new territory.

Idris Elba is so hot. I knew he was…but this is the first time I am watching him in a series. I liked Omar , played by Michael Williams too. Irrespective of the line of work, be it police or IT , the politics that is played by the players are too similar. Sometimes you are left wondering ‘what the f**k did I do?’ just like McNulty 😉 The screenplay was very impressive. It all ended very beautifully in a full circle, not entirely the way McNulty wanted it to end. I should say that I was kind of in a haze yesterday after doing a full day of The Wire on Sunday. And yesterday it was a full day shopping trip ( it wasn’t me who did the shopping yo! ) and by the end of it I couldn’t see the roads clearly while driving back. It is not a easy thing to actually get back to work today especially with tight deadlines with my head still reeling in all that happened in Season 1. But I got to do what I got to do. Just like Omar says at the end of the season, ‘It all in the game yo!, all in the game’.

The Wire

I know I wrote all about the adventure and all just recently when I watched the movie ‘The Everest’, so I ain’t going to be writing more about it. But today, since I was feeling like it, I decide to masturdate (wait…..read that word slowly and carefully…don’t jump to conclusions…this word is different , yeah! ? OK, now let’s go ahead)

The one movie which I wanted to see but haven’t yet was ‘The Walk‘. You all know my fear of heights right. So obviously I wanted to watch this in IMAX 3D. And do it on my own 🙂 Booked the ticket an hour and a half before the movie and just went before I could change my mind and take complete advantage of Sunday Funday. I should say that I enjoyed it very much, even though I did sweat a lot even in that air conditioned theater. Some scenes where they show the heights and the depth, I felt a pain in my legs as if I was the one standing on that edge. The guy Jeff, who has the fear of heights, whenever he is shaking with fear, I can feel myself shaking too. Jeez. Since you can read all about it in Wikipedia (even though I would suggest to watch the movie just for the fun of it) I ain’t going to the story. But technically it was very well done. I don’t appreciate watching movies in 3D because I get headaches mostly after using those glasses and most of the movies don’t usually need a 3D and they do it just for the heck of it. But this one definitely needed to be in IMAX and 3D. It was truly amazing. The visuals were so amazing and stunning. I especially loved the sunrise (duh!)  It might bring back memories for people who have seen the Twin Towers during those times. The art direction was also good. I wonder how much of the jugglery that Joseph Gordon does were graphics. I loved those earlier scenes where the scene is in B & W but one part of it (like the apple or a fruit) is in color. Ben Kingsley! Yay!!! Been a while since I saw him 🙂 Charlotte is as cute as ever. Acting wise, everyone has done their part. I am not good with the physics of how this was done and whether it was possible or anything. But if that was a true story then it is freaking amazing. I bow for Mr Petit’s bravery. The scene where the wire is shown as if it is going into oblivion was so AMAZING. I was so mesmerized.

Glad that I watched it before it was taken off from IMAX. Truly enjoyed it, even though I had to close my eyes and peek through my fingers in some scenes (shhhhh….don’t tell anyone yeah!?)
