Not to miss

Can’t wait for this.

And you should definitely give this Christmas Poem a read šŸ˜‰ It starts like this.

I’ve been in dreamland quite a while

And just woke up with blissful smile

From nodding off I don’t know when.

I must’ve missed a lot since then.

Now Christmas comes! The snow grows deep!

I’m glad I didn’t oversleep.

Sit close and give your bard a kiss,

And tell me, dears, what did I miss?

…….

This girl could be me

Except that, I definitely know who Tilda is and I would never make my boyfriend watch Hunger Games if he is not interested. I am not a big fan of that series (Hunger games, I mean), but it wasn’t too bad either. I definitely don’t know much about superheroes and Marvel keeps churning one after another which becomes so difficult for me to keep up. I am just going to take it one movie at a time, depending on how much I like the actors in it and then get the backstory from my friends who are a HUGE fan of that series. I had no idea until the trailers started coming out about Doctor Strange, but will definitely be watching this movie šŸ™‚

SoCS: Rant about Resurgence

I really wasn’t going to rant about this, but then Linda gave me an opening and I couldn’t resist. I think you would all remember the movie Independence Day. It wasn’t a great movie, but it was a fun. Fun in a way where there were less number of movies at that time about aliens attacking us and us fighting them and winning the same. Its been 10 years since I think. And after innumerable movies where we have seen the same aliens, even though the shape, size and cruelty of each of them varied, attack our beloved Earth and us scrambling for heroes, sometimes one and other times many, who would save our planet restoring the faith in humanity and our ability to get together as one when in need. When I went to the movie Point Break (a very average movie, except for some amazing stunts), I saw the trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence (2016). If in case you have missed the trailer, here it is for you.

I am all for movies promoting humanity and all the stuff, trust me I watch enough emotional drama based movies, but this alien thing is getting really very boring. If we are investing so much studying about Mars, Moon etc and want to use them for our own useĀ then shouldn’t we be bothered about it if some alien attacks those planets too? Don’t get me started on poor Pluto. I am still not sure if it is in or out. I have never been a big fan of alien based movies. That doesn’t mean I don’t watch them, but limit myself to ones that have enough masala in it (in other words, which are the commercial entertainer). Its gonna be the same story with respect to Independence Day isn’t. Except that the villain got a lot bigger and hence the production value. I am gonna skip this movie for sure, not even if I am really really bored. The trailer itself is more than enough for me. Why is this movie resurged after 10 years? Don’t they have enough good scripts? Well, I know I am not spending my money on this one.

Post for this week’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: ā€œtitle.ā€ Think of the title of a movie. Remember or jot down the first one that comes to mind. Now what I’d like you do for SoCS is, use that title as the inspiration for your post. It can be the story of the movie, the title of the movie, or you can simply quote the title of the movie somewhere in your post. It’s up to you! Enjoy!
P.S. If your chosen movie is largely unrecognizable, please let us know at the end of your post what you’re referring to. Thanks!

Probably not a good idea !?

When I got up today, I really thought it would be a relaxed one just like yesterday. But my expectation was short lived, as usual. And I was in this official call dealing with some last minute stuff for almost 7 hours straight, with a few minutes break in between where the cell phone company thought that I was talking for over 2 hours on my phone and they cut the call themselves every 2 hours and I had to redial. And now since I am waiting on something to finish, thought of taking a break andĀ post about something I saw a couple of days ago and which got me thinking a little bit. And pardon me if it feels like rambling because my head is slightly swimming with visions after seeing the monitor for so long. But can’t take a full break as of yet.

I saw the Jurassic World movie trailer recently after hearing about it in radio that it is done well. Whoa!! Way too cool. And sound effects were chilling.

And when I saw it later, I realized a few similarities from the first one, Jurassic Park. I remember seeing that in theater and being in awwwwwe Ā That gate, the lake, the way they want to evacuate, the gyro-sphere etc. Then found a webpage and an article which explained all the similarities between the two. Amazing and very well done. Definitely a must watch in IMAX and 3D, what do you say? Honestly I am not a big fan of Dinosaurs as a living being. Am glad to have so many centuries between them and me, you know. While talking about the trailerĀ I asked my friends,Ā if there was such a world would they be interested in visiting it at all ? or is it just the fantasy of it that they like. One of them told me, ‘Hell no!, I am not going anywhere near them’ and the other was like, ‘if I had enough money to pay for that trip, I would definitely go’.Ā And when I asked him if he wasn’t afraid of them, he just said, ‘I will be in my gyrosphere, what is there to be afraid of?’. And when they asked me, I just replied, ‘I won’t go anywhere near them or the part of the globe where they reside. Especially if they are genetically modified, I won’t even think about them.’

Then I got thinking about my reply. Not a few days ago, I was again confirming with my friends about our next trip to a African Safari and trying to gain as many votes. Not many are interested, but there is still time to pull them to the dark side šŸ˜‰ Now, is the Jurassic World any different from any other Safari that we do ? If we leave alone the part where they might be alive because of genetics ? There is always a risk involved. Wild animals are just that. They are wild. But don’t we get a thrill to go by their natural habitat and see them in their natural environment ? And accidents do happen (even in a zoo in fact) and they can turn against us in a blink of an eye. How isĀ visiting a park Ā full of dinosaurs in an island Ā any different ? When I think of myself sitting in that gryosphere and looking around and being close to them, I get goosebumpsĀ and think that may be it is indeed a good idea (damn my curiosity and that rush of adrenaline) but when I calm down my skin gets ice cold. I know that I won’t harm any animals, but the animals don’t know that, do they. What if my kindest act triggers a predatory instinct in them ?

What do you think? Would you visit a Jurassic World if there was one?

Gone Girl – Trailer

I absolutely loved the book ‘Gone Girl‘ (that post of mine will have spoilers)Ā by Gillian Flynn. Just loved the characters in it, the good, the bad and the grey. And I am for sure going to watch the movie that is releasing here next week, 31st Oct to be precise. But to be very honest, when I saw the trailer first, I was a little apprehensive. Because you see when I read the book and heard that they are going to do the movie, I somehow thought Ā that Nicole Kidman would be apt for the role of Amy. Don’t ask me why, it is one of those unnecessary thoughts that creep up when you read a book and you sort of put some known actors in it because you know they can carry it well. I haven’t seen Rosamund Pike’s acting except for the one in Die Another Day and well, you know how it is in Bond movies.Ā Ā And I have told my friends to please please read the book before they come to the movie, even though I know that it isn’t going to happen. But if you are planning to see this movie (even though I am going to go with absolutely no high hopes) my kind suggestion would be to read the book first (and hopefully you haven’t read the Wikipedia already) because I know that a lot of what is written cannot be easily translated to a movie script and the book was a such a pleasure to read, if you like those kind of drama, family, romance (or not), sarcasm, crime, thriller, humor etc.

And if you are in a place where the movie is already released and you have seen it, let me know your thoughts on the same.
