K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge: On the rocks

Since I am still getting back to the groove, I am going with a literal meaning of this week’s Cosmic Photo Challenge, without having to think too much 🙂

This photograph was taken during my recent trip to Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary. It was such a cute little bird and it did wait for me to get my focus right and the moment I clicked this photograph, he flew away. ontherocks2.JPG

Wanna join in? Here is how:

Create a post with ‘K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge’ in the title. This week, the prompt is : On the rocks.
Post a photo to your blog, pingback to either Dale’s or K’lee’s post and don’t forget to add the tag #CosPhoChal to your post’s tags and that’s it!

WPC: Quest

“Though the quest may take its toll,
We’ll march until we reach our goal,

― Brian Jacques

That is exactly what we did when we decided to do our 2-3 hour trekking in Chinnar (on the way to Munnar). We wanted to spot some wildlife even though there weren’t any chances of it because of the hot and humid weather (the lack of monsoon had its toll in that area)

I got a new pair of shoes because this was a last minute decision and I did not have any of my shoes with me at that time. Very cool shoes, don’t you think 😉 ?

And finally after an hour into the dry and deserted trek, look what we found. They were in a huge group, so I had my time to get my zoom lens out. Looked like those deer’s were in their quest to get some shade.

There is our guide, who was in his own quest to spot that lone wild elephant we saw during our drive to Chinnar.

Our trekking did not end here. We ended up walking to a small stream where we found beautiful birds. But that is for another day.

I leave you with an imagery of the beautiful Western Ghats seen from Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary. Can you see the small green roof? That is where our trek started. We had such a fun time 🙂 even though by the end of it, we were tanned ( at least my friend was) and I had lost a kg or two just by sweating.

Looking for a view

A piece of art or a picture you say? Righto! Pop came these photographs to my mind. And since I will be on vacation for a fortnight I am scheduling it on Friday night (thanks Linda for the early prompt 😉 ) and I promise I will come back and check out your posts on this prompt later.

A scene at the Fota Wildlife park, Cork, Ireland.
Me: There is supposed to be a Panda bear here. Do you see him anywhere?
Friend: Nope… He might be hiding.
Searching the trees for a while. Almost at the verge of giving up when my friend points me to the tree above.
Friend: There…do you see him? (Points above in the trees)
Me: I only see the tree leaves…Damn..I shouldn’t have removed my zoom lens and packed it in. (It was getting very cold, windy and there was a slight drizzling of rain too at that time)
Friend: Look behind those leaves…

Me: You mean this one?

Friend: Yes.

(Panda : God…won’t she leave me alone in peace?)

Me: Let me try a little bit from here. Might get a good view.

view1.JPG

Me: Damn… Why can’t I get the focus right!

(Panda: Still not going to pose for you lady…Why do you think I climbed up all the way here… Go away!)

Me: I will try one more shot and then we will leave him to his sleep

Me: There! Finally! It can’t get any better than this. I am happy with this view. Come on, let’s go.

(Panda: eye roll)
