For the women

This song might have been very apt for a Women’s day. But still would dedicate it to all the women. Chris Daughtry’s amazing voice adds more emotion to the beautiful lyrics. At first it might seem like they are talking about Superman. But then you might have to look a little closer or may be read in between the lines to get the actual message. And the interpretations do vary from person to person.

Here is Daughtry singing ‘Waiting for Superman’

Lyrics from A-Z Lyrics

She’s watching the taxi driver, he pulls away
She’s been locked up inside her apartment a hundred days

She says, “Yeah, he’s still coming, just a little bit late.
He got stuck at the laundromat washing his cape.”
She’s just watching the clouds roll by and they spell her name
Like Lois Lane
And she smiles, oh the way she smiles

She’s talking to angels,
Counting the stars
Making a wish on a passing car
She’s dancing with strangers,
Falling apart
Waiting for Superman to pick her up
In his arms, yeah, in his arms, yeah
Waiting for Superman

She’s out on the corner trying to catch a glimpse
Nothing’s making sense
She’s been chasing an answer, a sign lost in the abyss,
This Metropolis

She says, “Yeah, he’s still coming, just a little bit late.
He got stuck at the Five and Dime saving the day.”
She says, “If life was a movie, then it wouldn’t end like this,
Left without a kiss.”
Still, she smiles, oh, the way she smiles, yeah

She’s talking to angels,
Counting the stars
Making a wish on a passing car
She’s dancing with strangers,
She’s falling apart
Waiting for Superman to pick her up
In his arms, yeah, in his arms, yeah
She’s waiting for Superman…

…to lift her up and take her anywhere
Show her love and flying through the air
Save her now before it’s too late tonight
Oh, at the speed of light
And she smiles

She’s talking to angels,
Counting the stars
Making a wish on a passing car
She’s dancing with strangers,
She’s falling apart
Waiting for Superman to pick her up
In his arms, yeah, in his arms, yeah
She’s waiting for Superman…

…to lift her up and take her anywhere
Show her love, oh, and flying through the air
Save her now before it’s too late tonight
She’s waiting for Superman

Posting it for this week’s Song Lyric Sunday.

Women’s day win 😉

image

At my office,  the women’s day celebrations happen every year.  I used to attend it mainly for the free snacks. Trust me,  the speech and the talks were always very boring and it would put me to sleep immediately.  But this year I really enjoyed it.  They had some games,  quizzes, impromptu catwalk etc.  And I won that crystal candle when I correctly identified a celebrity from a distorted photo. It went on for an hour and a half and almost by the end of it,  we all were quite hungry (it was our usual tea time).  Thank God, they had some snacks ready for us.  But overall it was a good one and the effort was commendable.

Another Day!!!

Let me first start by saying that I don’t really believe in all these *’s Day thing at all. Not even Valentine’s day. I think it is all a marketing strategy that was long ago done to sell all those greeting cards. And I would always scold my sister for sending a ‘Sister’s day’ greeting card every year. I know I am awesome and a great sister. She didn’t have to say it with cards, because she would expect me to do the same and I don’t. So yeah no mother’s day, sister’s day, father’s day (my father gets wild if I call him on that day), brother’s day (is there one such thing at all ?) etc etc. In my company, for every Women’s day, they have a small meeting of women (which I don’t attend , so no idea what they talk about) after which we get pastries and snacks (which I do attend, but only to sneak a few to give it to my friends – most of them men, who aren’t allowed to attend those). So yeah, apart from the pastries I have no interest in Women’s day either. So imagine my surprise when I saw that Nov 19th was declared as International Men’s day. When did this happen ? I saw it in a news article today and was surprised 🙂 I sincerely hope my male friends do get me some pastries and snacks if there happened to be a meeting and celebration for their ‘day’ in my company. So for all the men out there, belated Happy Men’s day ,if you in case you believe in it.

Now comes the funny part. I saw one tweet about how Nov 19th is also a World Toilet Day. Seriously!? Who chose 19th Nov as the Men’s day ? There should be a central register to choose dates that do not clash with other day’s to avoid such things. This is indeed not nice. You should celebrate only one thing a day.
