sometimes it’s too late

This week’s theme for Song Lyric Sunday is forgiveness. Have you ever felt that it is the most difficult thing to do rather than saying Thank You to someone? Sorry is a difficult word, but Forgiveness is a difficult feeling. Not everyone deserves it but unless we find a way to forgive them we would be carrying the burden of that with us for a very long time. And still, even though it is in our better interests to forgive and forget, it is not as easy as it sounds. Does everyone who apologizes be forgiven? Not necessarily. Sometimes we are just humans. And that is OK.

Here is the first song that came to my mind when I read this week’s theme. Clearly, this person wasn’t getting any forgiveness from the person singing it.

Lyrics from A-Z lyrics

I’m holdin’ on your rope,
Got me ten feet off the ground.
And I’m hearin’ what you say,
But I just can’t make a sound.
You tell me that you need me,
Then you go and cut me down.
But wait.
You tell me that you’re sorry,
Didn’t think I’d turn around.
And say.

That it’s too late to apologize.
It’s too late.
I said it’s too late to apologize.
It’s too late.
Too late, oh uh (x2)

I’d take another chance,
Take a fall, take a shot for you.
I need you like a heart needs a beat,
But it’s nothin’ new, yeah!
I loved you with a fire red,
Now it’s turnin’ blue.
And you say.
Sorry, like an angel
Heaven let me think was you.
But I’m afraid.

It’s too late to apologize.
It’s too late.
I said it’s too late to apologize.
It’s too late.
Whoa!

It’s too late to apologize.
It’s too late.
I said it’s too late to apologize.
It’s too late.

I said it’s too late to apologize, yeah!
I said it’s too late to apologize, yeah!
I’m holdin’ on your rope,
Got me ten feet off the ground.

Rockabye Baby, Don’t you cry

I already posted this song a couple of weeks back, but that was the BBC New Year Party version of the song.
Here is their official video of the song by Clean Bandits, which became my absolute favorite for 2016. I loved the lyrics, I loved the tune, I loved the singing… I loved it all. And it is a perfect fit for today’s Song Lyric Sunday theme and I don’t mind reposting the song again.

Lyrics from A-Z lyrics

“Rockabye”
(feat. Anne-Marie & Sean Paul)

Call it love and devotion
Call it a mom’s adoration
Foundation
A special bond of creation, ha
For all the single moms out there
Going through frustration
Clean Bandit, Sean-da-Paul, Anne-Marie
Sing, make them hear

She works the nights, by the water
She’s gone astray, so far away
From my father’s daughter
She just wants a life for her baby
All on her own, no one will come
She’s got to save him (Daily struggle)

She tells him, “Ooh, love, no one’s ever gonna hurt you, love
I’m gonna give you all of my love
Nobody matters like you”
(Stay out there, stay out there)

She tells him, “Your life ain’t gon’ be nothing like my life
You’re gonna grow and have a good life
I’m gonna do what I’ve got to do”
(Stay out there, stay out there)

So, Rockabye baby, Rockabye
I’m gonna rock you
Rockabye baby, don’t you cry
Somebody’s got you
Rockabye baby, Rockabye
I’m gonna rock you
Rockabye baby, don’t you cry
Rockabye, no

Rockabye-rocka-rocka-rocka-bye
(Rockabye, yeah oh oh)
Rockabye-rocka-rocka-rocka-bye

Single mama you doing out there
Facing the hard life, without no fear (Yeah)
Just so you know that you really care
Cause any obstacle come you’re well prepared (Oh no)
And no mama, you never shed tear
Cause you have to shed things year after year
And you give the youth love beyond compare (Yeah)
You find his school fee and the bus fare (Yeah)
Mmm Marie, the pops’ disappear
In the round back can’t find him nowhere
Steadily you work flow, everything you know
Say you nah stop no time – no time for your jear

Now she got a six-year-old
Trying to keep him warm
Trying to keep out the cold
When he looks in her eyes
He don’t know he is safe

When she says “Ooh, love, no one’s ever gonna hurt you, love
I’m gonna give you all of my love
Nobody matters like you”

So, Rockabye baby, Rockabye
I’m gonna rock you
Rockabye baby, don’t you cry
Somebody’s got you
Rockabye baby, Rockabye
I’m gonna rock you
Rockabye baby, don’t you cry
(Oh-badda-bang-bang-bang, alright then)
Rockabye, no

Rockabye-rocka-rocka-rocka-bye
(Rockabye, yeah oh oh)
Rockabye-rocka-rocka-rocka-bye

Rockabye, don’t bother cry
Lift up your head, lift it up to the sky
Rockabye, don’t bother cry
Angels surround you, just dry your eye

Now she got a six-year-old
Trying to keep him warm
Trying to keep out the cold
When he looks in her eyes
He don’t know he is safe when she says

She tells him, “Ooh, love, no one’s ever gonna hurt you, love
I’m gonna give you all of my love
Nobody matters like you”
(Stay out there, stay out there)

She tells him, “Your life ain’t gonna be nothing like my life (stay)
You’re gonna grow and have a good life
I’m gonna do what I’ve got to do”
(Stay out there, stay out there)

So, Rockabye baby, Rockabye
(Rockabye-rocka-rocka-rocka-bye)
I’m gonna rock you
Rockabye baby, don’t you cry
(Rockabye-rocka-rocka-rocka-bye)
Somebody’s got you
Rockabye baby, Rockabye
(Rockabye-rocka-rocka-rocka-bye)
I’m gonna rock you
Rockabye baby, don’t you cry
(Oh-badda-bang-bang-bang, alright then)
Rockabye

Rockabye, don’t bother cry
Lift up your head, lift it up to the sky (Rockabye)
Rockabye, don’t bother cry (Yeah)
Angels surround you, just dry your eye (Yeah)

Rockabye, don’t bother cry (No)
Lift up your head, lift it up to the sky (Oh)
Rockabye, don’t bother cry
Angels surround you, just dry your eye

Freeze you out

It’s been close to a month since I posted anything for Song Lyric Sunday. It was because I hardly posted anything on a Sunday ever since I moved. It is one of those days when you have to get your bearings back and get ready for the next week.
One of the important things that I had to do when I moved to London was to get accustomed to the cold weather here. Thank God, I had my thermals. It is slightly better today, with constant drizzle and yet the temperature close to 9 degrees. But still, it can freeze you out. And that is why today’s song for this week’s song lyric Sunday from me will be ‘Freeze You Out’ by Sia, which featured in ‘The Huntsman’ movie.

Hope you enjoy the song as much as I do.

Lyrics from a Blogspot post

[Verse 1]
You know I’ve been hurt before
Yeah, you know the score and I know you want more
You want me to thaw out
But you know I get ice cold, I get cold
When you don’t go slow, but I know you want more
You need me to thaw out

[Pre-Chorus]
And I know you were worth it
And I know this could work if
I could only let you in
But I’m freezing

[Chorus]
I’m not running away
I’m not running away
I will feel the pain and stay
I’m not running again
I’m not running again
Even though I’m scared, baby
And I won’t freeze you out
Like I have been
I won’t freeze you out
I’m gonna let you in
And I won’t freeze you out
Like I have been
I won’t freeze you out
My heart is melting

[Verse 2]
So here’s my heart for you to hold
Feel it beat, feel the warm blood flow through my cold
Feel it thaw out
Yeah, I’ve felt the fear but I push through
It’s so worth loving you, you wanted more
And so I thawed out

[Pre-Chorus]
And I know you were worth it
And I know this could work if
I could only let you in
But I was freezing

[Chorus]
I’m not running away
I’m not running away
I will feel the pain and stay
I’m not running again
I’m not running again
Even though I’m scared, baby
And I won’t freeze you out
Like I have been
I won’t freeze you out
I’m gonna let you in
And I won’t freeze you out
Like I have been
I won’t freeze you out
My heart is melting

[Bridge]
I won’t freeze you out, my heart is melting
I won’t freeze you out, my heart is melting

[Chorus]
I’m not running away
I’m not running away
I will feel the pain and stay
I’m not running again
I’m not running again
Even though I’m scared, baby
And I won’t freeze you out
Like I have been
I won’t freeze you out
I’m gonna let you in
And I won’t freeze you out
Like I have been
I won’t freeze you out
My heart is melting
And I won’t freeze you out
Like I have been
I won’t freeze you out
I’m gonna let you in
And I won’t freeze you out
Like I have been
I won’t freeze you out
My heart is melting

When I get low…

I know I am a little late to the Song Lyric Sunday party because I was busy with my nephew and was on a trip to my temple in another state. So I guess I will be pardoned 😉
Y’all know how I like to listen to some peppy numbers all the time, especially when I am a little low. Nothing like a good foot tapping number for me to get me out of my funk no matter how dark it might be. So for the Song Lyric Late Sunday contribution of this week, here is a song by The Speakeasy Three and their version of ‘When I Get Low I Get High’.

Disclaimer: This is about getting high on some fun music. 😉

Lyrics from a Blogspot post

WHEN I GET LOW, I GET HIGH

My fur got sold
oh lord ain’t it cold
But I’m not gonna holler
’cause I still got a dollar
And when I get low
Oooo I get high

My man walked out
Now you know that ain’t right
but he better watch out
If I meet him tonight
I said when I get low
Oooo I get high

All the bad luck in this town has found me
Nobody knows how trouble goes round and round me….

I’m all alone
With no-one to pet me
But the old rocking chair
Ain’t never gonna get me
‘Cause when I get low
Oooo I get high

My man’s full up,
got his belly in a tangle
’cause I’m a slice of pie
he just can’t handle
and when I get low
Oooo I get high

My pockets are empty
and my chips are down
but I ain’t gonna holler,
No, I ain’t gonna frown
‘Cause when I get low
Oooo I get high

All the bad luck in this town has found me
Nobody knows how trouble goes round and round me….

Woah there was a ruckus last night
I ended up in jail
but I ain’t got to worry –
my girls got my bail

I’m all alone
With no-one to pet me
But the old rocking chair
Ain’t never gonna get me
‘Cause when I get low
Oooo I get high

Too Close

Until this song by Alex Clare came to my attention I never knew that there was a genre called Dubstep. I have heard songs which fall under that genre without even knowing it. Not that I would know the genres to which a song would belong to if I hear it, may be a rough idea, but not the exact details.  So here is ‘Too Close’ by Alex Clare as part of Song Lyric Sunday for this week.

Lyrics from A-Z Lyrics

You know I’m not one to break promises,
I don’t want to hurt you but I need to breathe.
At the end of it all, you’re still my best friend,
But there’s something inside that I need to release.
Which way is right, which way is wrong,
How do I say that I need to move on?
You know we’re heading separate ways.

And it feels like I am just too close to love you,
There’s nothing I can really say.
I can’t lie no more, I can’t hide no more,
Got to be true to myself.
And it feels like I am just too close to love you,
So I’ll be on my way.

You’ve given me more than I can return,
Yet there’s oh so much that you deserve.
There’s nothing to say, nothing to do.
I’ve nothing to give,
I must live without you.
You know we’re heading separate ways.

And it feels like I am just too close to love you,
There’s nothing I can really say.
I can’t lie no more, I can’t hide no more,
Got to be true to myself.
And it feels like I am just too close to love you,
So I’ll be on my way.

So I’ll be on my way.

And it feels like I am just too close to love you,
There’s nothing that I can really say.
I can lie no more, I can hide no more,
Got to be true to myself.
And it feels like I am just too close to love you,
So I’ll be on my way.

So I’ll be on my way.
So I’ll be on my way.

So, thanks to Kerry of herheadache, our theme for Song Lyric Sunday is to post a song that helped teach you something new (something you weren’t aware of before you heard it). I hope I captured what Kerry wanted with her suggestion, but I think it’s a good one and am forever grateful that I have followers willing to help me out.
