Life is no…

I started on a new book recently and I am taking it slow this time and not rushing into the story as I always do. I came across this line ‘Life is no paragraph and death is no parentheses’ and it was an instant like. So much so that it became my tag line for my WhatsApp 😉 I am not a great fan of poetry and my English isn’t that good (ask my friends, they can tell you some real horror stories). But this line, especially the part ‘death is no parentheses’ got me thinking. So I did what I usually do, googled it and found out that it was from E.E. Cummings poem ‘Since Feeling‘. Here is the full poem for you

since feeling is first
who pays any attention
to the syntax of things
will never wholly kiss you;

wholly to be a fool
while Spring is in the world
my blood approves,
and kisses are a better fate
than wisdom
lady i swear by all flowers. Don’t cry
– the best gesture of my brain is less than
your eyelids’ flutter which says

we are for each other; then
laugh, leaning back in my arms
for life’s not a paragraph

And death i think is no parenthesis

I loved it 🙂 Such a sweet little love poem. True isn’t ? life cannot be explained in a paragraph, death isn’t too small a detail to add inside a parentheses and as always feelings come first, so let us not waste any time  worrying about the syntax and just love each other and for life, how ever big or small it is.
