My Experiments with P*

Linda’s SoCS prompt is into its third year Annual SoCS badge design Contest. So, I thought why not combine that with this week’s SoCS prompt and make it one post? I took a couple of my photographs and played with it using Pixlr and Picasa. Given my not-so-great interest in editing the photographs beyond the basic crop / enhance, it took me a while to get something sorted out. It took a couple of experiments to get something close to what I want. Looks like Photoshop is the best editing tool because for one particular change which I wanted I tried checking out which other tool would provide me the feature and every link pointed me to Photoshop. Since I don’t have one, I went ahead with what I can do with my limited creativity and free tools. Since we are allowed to submit only one for the contest, I am going to go with this one this year. Let me know what you think? And don’t forget to exercise your right to vote, when the voting lines open on Linda’s site 🙂

Post for this week’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “ex.” Find a word that includes “ex” and base your post on it. Have fun!

Yippee!!!

Imagine my surprise when I saw the photograph I submitted to FPS (Forum Photo Share – Contest closed now) at The Forum Mall, Bangalore being displayed in the mall with a whole lot of other photographs. I never imagined that I would get to see one of my photograph displayed in a big mall for everyone to see. I hadn’t informed anyone about my submission and I was so happy that I almost shouted for my friends (I had accompanied them for their shopping) and almost , almost did a happy dance there 🙂 All the photographs were very very good and you can see them here (mine is the 2nd from the left in the last row). I didn’t know the winning photograph until I saw the results here and this was the one we were commenting was a very wonderful shot. For me, it was all about participating because it was a very big step for me to really reach out and I am glad that I did that.

My attempt @ SoCS Badge Design

As many of you know, I take part in the Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt conducted by Linda and try my level best at writing something interesting and fun. So, there came a requirement for a badge for the same. That got me thinking. How do I represent the ‘stream of consciousness’. There were quite a few photographs that came to my mind which I could use to represent it. But they were sort of like assigning pictures to the words literally. With the experience I have had with the prompts and the responses to it, I felt that it is nothing short of a treasure chest and hence decided to showcase the same. Especially for the readers who get a varied set of responses for a single prompt. So I took this photograph of my personal treasure chest 😉 and even though there was something else I wanted to try, I think that would take more time because I am not sure if that is possible with the tools (free ones) I have.

So here we go: My response to the SoCS badge design.
