In the end

For this week’s song lyric Sunday, I am going to go with a rock song of Linkin Park. I am not a huge fan of rock genre, but from time to time I do like a song or an album. And one of my favorite bands is Linkin Park. I love this song for its lyrics. I cannot sing the rap part of it but I appreciate the words.

Lyrics from A-Z Lyrics.

In The End

It starts with
One thing I don’t know why
It doesn’t even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind, I designed this rhyme
To explain in due time
All I know
Time is a valuable thing
Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings
Watch it count down to the end of the day
The clock ticks life away
It’s so unreal
Didn’t look out below
Watch the time go right out the window
Trying to hold on but didn’t even know
I wasted it all just to watch you goI kept everything inside and even though I tried, it all fell apart
What it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when…

I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter

One thing, I don’t know why
It doesn’t even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind, I designed this rhyme
To remind myself how
I tried so hard
In spite of the way you were mocking me
Acting like I was part of your property
Remembering all the times you fought with me
I’m surprised it got so (far)
Things aren’t the way they were before
You wouldn’t even recognize me anymore
Not that you knew me back then
But it all comes back to me
In the end

You kept everything inside and even though I tried, it all fell apart
What it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when…

I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter

I’ve put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
For all this
There’s only one thing you should know
I’ve put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
For all this
There’s only one thing you should know

I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter

Posting it for this week’s Song Lyric Sunday.

  1. Hi KG – well we live this band too – and this song has many memories for our family – one of them is my son insisted (when he was 8) that the words were “in the air” – and not “in the end”
-anyhow – great song to share and thx – peace

      1. well no – he was wrong – it is in the end – and when he realized what the message was – he got it – ! he also had a mistake on newsboy song that week – it was a God song that said 24 – 7 – He watches me (you know meaning that God is always watching) and his version was 24 seconds….
        ha!

  2. I’m on the fence about Linkin Park. It always bothers me when a band changes their sound so much they are hardly recognizable from the band that first started. I’ve listened to this song before but never really paid attention to the lyrics before. I think they have a strong message and I loved reading them. Thanks for sharing! 😉

  3. Love Linkin Park. 🙂 I heard this song on the radio just yesterday, actually. I’ve never read the lyrics though – they’re hard to keep up with! Thanks for posting them, KG! 😀
